Just joined the group and noticed some very helpful replies ! I have a certain circumstance that forbids me to own a pistol. I am ashamed to admit but I was convicted of a Felony 18 years ago. I was given the right to own long guns back 10 years ago. I was 18 at the time, stupid kid thing but anyways. I live in upstate NY and am a "Curio and Relic " collector. I have been thinking about trying to get a license. My question is. Is a 50 year old pistol still a pistol or is it a C+R or is it both ? Do some C+R license's have stipulations they cannot be used for pistols? I have had a clean record for 18 years and would like to keep it that way if you know what i mean. Thanks for any help you folks may have to offer.

C&R licenses are not good for handgun purchases in NY. Also I believe your felony arrest/conviction would keep you from being able to get this license.
