Can I transfer a c&r weapon that I owned prior to getting a c&r to my c&r license. I'd be transfering from myself to myself. This would save me the transaction fees etc if I decide to sell the gun . If possible what would I have to do on the c&r end, just log it in ? Thx, Remember 9-11 ! PS the gun would have been owned on a local license . |

This would seem to me to be silly to put it on the books when it is now off of them, if you live in one of the socialist states where you have to use an FFL to transfer to your kid I feel for ya. I would keep if off the books if possible so you can sell or trade it to anyone you want as freedmen are guaranteed the right to do. Good People with Guns have never been a problem!! |

Esu, the answer to your question is:NO! I have a BATF letter dated Dec 22, 2000 from which I quote in part " Must enter into the A/D record all curios and relics acquired after receipt of the collectors license." In other words, weapons that you had prior to your c&r license must remain on that record as it is. |

I am sending my application today. I noticed someone talking about a transaction fee in ESU's post. Is this something you pay at acqusition or disposal? To whom is it paid? What is the deal? |
