I'm a Nothern Virginian on the verge of submitting my CRFFL appl but am not clear a on a few items. Assuming I'm refering to an eligible revolver: 1. Could I go to a gunshow or gunshop in MD or NC, buy a gun and carry it home? 2. Would I be subject to local delays beyond NICS, such as Alexandria and Fairfax County? 3. Would I still be subject to VA's one gun a month limitation? 4. In Fairfax County is the CLEO the sheriff or the police chief? |

1. If it's a C&R, yes. 2. You shouldn't be, for a C&R firearm. 3. No, not for C&R guns. 4. Whichever you want. Take care, Adam Adam C. Firestone Editor-in-Chief CRUFFLER.COM http://www.cruffler.com |

if a gunshop will NOT accept my C&R and I go thru the 4473 instant check, can I keep the records of purchase, etc. in my "bound book" as a C&R arm? |

Cmomm: If you buy a gun in the ordinary way, NOT using yr C&R license, you would want to keep a record for yrself, but I cannot see that you would have to list it in the C&R book that is subject to ATF inspection. You might want to show the gun in yr C&R book in the event you were to sell it to a C&R holder in another state, but if you dispose of it to a person in yr own state, you would be subject only to whatever yr state law says regarding transfers of personal firearms. I sugest you read carefully the ATF C&R rgulations covering firearm acquisitions, & if necessary, you can always ask ATF. Remember, the whole concept of the C&R license & related rules is to facilitate the hobby of collecting those arms meeting the definition across state lines. And as you know from reading the C&R list published by ATF, there are many, many guns so defined! Good luck. |

I've asked similiar questions on other boards and here are the answers I got: Any C&R guns you purchased before you got your C&R license do not need to be in the bound book, except if you sell them. Then they must be. (I put all of them in my bound book anyway) Any C&R gun you buy after you get your C&R license, regardless of the use of your C&R license to get it, must be entered into the bound book when you buy it. (I have ATF Open Letter dated 12-22-00, and the "Required" section, second bullet, basically says this) Be careful. You'll end up needing another safe! |
