I've purchased a firearm (not a C&R, however, really sorry if this is off topic) from a really good friend in Arkansas. Unfortunately, I'm in Philadelphia, PA and need him to ship me the gun through a FFL dealer.

Easy, right? Wrong!

Any shop that I go to will only accept shipment FROM a FFL dealer, not a personal residence or UPS dropoff point.

Now, before everyone hollers that legally my friend can ship it to the FFL dealer, I am well aware of this fact. The problem is that at the dealers where I've checked, they all give me an adamant (and most of the time, ignorant/obnoxious) "Gotta be shipped from a dealer to a dealer." and a copy of the sender's FFL needs to be included.

I don't know if this is all because of 9-11 (though I'm sure there are soooo many terrorists out there going to use a .41 magnum Ruger Blackhawk! ) or what, but it's a real PITA.

What I'm asking is if there are any FFL dealers or holders in the Benton/Little Rock Arkansas area (or are an AR resident and might find yourself in that area) that could help us make this transfer? My friend has a hard time getting around (several health problems) and isn't really up to the trip for long distances to search out a gun shop that will be willing to ship a gun without charging an arm and a leg. Payment for shipping isn't the problem, but I'm already paying a "transfer fee" up here and don't want to get nailed too badly with a "processing fee" on the sender's end too.

We've tried the "FFL Search" features of GunsAmerica, AuctionArms and the like, with no luck. He's trying to see if one of a couple pawn shops are able and/or willing to make the shipment, but we're not too optimistic about it.

I'm going to attend a gun show this weekend to see if this from FFL to FFL requirement is a PA statewide thing, or just some BS that's in Philadelphia (and surrounding areas) or whatever.

Any help in this matter would be graciously appreciated. We really would hate for this type of chickensh*t to be the dealbreaker on this.

Thanks in advance.

Ready, Aim, Fire, in Bristol, PA has no problems accepting transfers. Just tell them you want to have a firearm shipped to them.

The downside is that I think they charge $40 for transfers. It might be less for members.

I think your friend was given an offer by a Cruffler who is also a class 1 ffl holder to have the friend send it to him and he will transfer from W.V. on to you. Roundabout way but it would work. A liile more expense, but the class 1 isn't going to charge him. Hope all goes well.

Asmodeous...
Funny you should mention Ready Aim Fire...

It's them through whom I'm dealing. Chuck's giving me the hard-line that he's gotta receive it from a FFL dealer, even though I've begged and pleaded.

I'm a member there (for the last 3 years) and he's giving me this line. I've also gotten two guns through them before a handgun and a rifle...

Rhett:
When was this offer made? I haven't been in contact with my buddy today.

Chuck's giving you a hard time about it? He's done a bunch of transfers for me, but perhaps that's because we are neighbors (and, like you, I've been a member of the range since it opened). I'll give him a hard time about this new policy when I see him next week. Maybe I can make him see the light.

UPDATE:

Well, it finally happened. I received my handgun two weekends ago, after getting everything straightened out. My friend was able to give the shipment to another friend of his who's brother-in-law owns a gun shop in North Little Rock...

So, I received my handgun in all it's ugly splendor...a .41 amgnum Ruger Blackhawk, with pretty much no finish, but BOY, does it shoot!

And, I did receive it through Chuck at Ready Aim Fire...

Best,

Gary
